![]() That's the interesting part, it didn't feel like anything at all. It seems like any powder with Talc in it works. I don't know if it will work for you, but it was a exactly what I needed.ĮDIT: I tested out a talc based baby powder too, and that also worked. I figured I'd leave this here to help any other desperate bastard. And just browsing it seems like no one's has mentioned foot powder. I found this subreddit when I was trying to figure out wtf just happened to me. Blows my mind that I've never heard of this before. This whole experience has been pretty surreal. I'll keep this stuff on until the itch goes away. I do under stand that keeping my skin dry is probably pretty bad for the sunburn, but honestly I don't care. I have no idea what those things are, or why they help, but the instant and almost total relief was pretty much a miracle to me. The ingredients on the tube are " Talc, Salicylic acid, and Methyl Salicylate". The relief was instant! I covered the whole burn in it, and the itching is almost completely gone now. The description included a bullet that says "cools and soothes" so I decide fuck it, and smeared some on. I was riding my medicine cabinet desperate for some, but instead I found a tube of Dr Scholl's soothing foot powder. I found an article on Hell's Itch that mentioned Benadryl cream. I had no idea what the hell was going on, but of course itching was making it much, much worse so I googled around looking for something that might help. I just developed Hell's just a couple hours ago. Ive never heard of Hells Itch before, but my story seems to be pretty typical for around here, but what's different is how I found some relief. The mod is also not very active here, so feel free to use the report button if there are any issues. The sub may not be very active, (especially in the winter), but every post counts. The purpose of this subreddit is to hopefully become a nexus for those that have experienced this dermal oddity, share information, studies, news, and remedies. It typically happens with a mild sunburns well away from blistering, however more severe burns can result in an itch lasting almost a week. This is not sun poisoning, nor is it an allergic reaction. The condition can last anywhere from 12 to 48 hours, where the first day is always the worst, and is gone as if it had never shown up. ![]() It can be fierce enough to cause muscle spasms, but in most cases, the experience is best described as truly maddening. Reliably 2-3 days after a reasonably mild (non-blistering) sun burn. A swarm of fire ants biting you from the inside.Īcute, unimaginable, itching that occurs in short, intense waves. Described as having razor sharp sand paper rubbing beneath your skin. ![]()
